I wanted to Thank You for your messages and concern for our safety in Japan. I can't tell you hor forunate I feel to have so much support during such a devastating time in a country we have made our home for the past 3 years. Here is how the events unfolded for us on Friday..
Justin and I live on the 7th floor of a 9 floor apartment building. I was working on the Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-61349078868722859862011-03-06T23:23:00.000+09:002011-03-06T23:23:20.888+09:00outfit from the weekend: personal style.Wanna know a secret?
I LOVE CLOTHES!
It might go a bit deeper than that. I love creating my personal style. No, this is not a style blog.. nor will it become one.. tried & failed!
But, I think this all started with a single clothing disaster, I wore a white-mini-tierd skirt over a pair of jeans. (gasp!) I'm shaking my head at the mental image that creates... I wish Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-36952833107714949232011-03-04T22:11:00.002+09:002011-03-04T22:11:54.007+09:00Set the Mood...
Some Coffee. Pretty red carnations. A few favorite books. And one relaxing morning. Doesn't get much better than that!
How will you spend your Weekend? Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-23081301303645021512011-02-28T08:25:00.000+09:002011-02-28T08:25:43.885+09:009 more weekends. That's all that remains of my time in Japan..
I'm shocked! It keeps flying by.
It always seems like its the weekend! (Which normally would be an ah-mazing thing!)
But, the time is dwindling down and there is not much left of our downtime to get my fill of food, sights, and the comforts of Japan that I've become so accustomed to. I'm already planning out strategies for those who will still live Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-3870172623710116642011-02-23T09:35:00.000+09:002011-02-23T09:35:11.421+09:00School Woes (Part II)I put up a post yesterday touching on my frustrations directly attributed to the expense of school. After some reflection I realized how insensitive I was to students who are faced with leaving the classroom in the face of high tuition and costs. I am so fortunate to continue my education and receive grant money that although might not seem like enough, helps keep the tuition (somewhat) in Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-13796892856173418372011-02-22T11:05:00.000+09:002011-02-22T11:05:47.979+09:00School Woes.I have spent the greater part of my morning coordinating payments for college.
Although it is a necessary payment, I couldn't help but gasp at the amount and stress over watching our accounts dwindle down.
But all this stress is directed towards funding my educational efforts.
Is it mis-directed?
I should be thankful that we even have the money to cover the cost of my education.
I should be Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-28453096383332517772011-02-15T16:46:00.001+09:002011-02-18T09:39:57.003+09:00I scored PCSing GOLD!So.. I'm making it a priority to spend our remaining time in Japan with the amazing friends that we've made here!

I saw the latest Bieber Fever happening is his new movie, "Never Say Never." (I had to google that!)
Two thoughts came to my mind:
1. He is not old enough to even have a movie documenting his accomplishments... considering he hasn't even lived 25% of his life...
and

Rather I talked, you listened...I was planning a huge international field trip with some of my Japanese Mothers and we had just found out we were moving to England!
I had an amazing, once in a lifetime, trip with some of my favorite people in Japan! We travelled ALL over! I'm back!
After a 5 month break, a long holiday season, a frustrating relationship with financial aid, and a small stint as a style blogger.. I'm realizing that this was the blogging that I really enjoyed.
Writing about the activities and messiness of my life, or just life in general.
I know I received e-mails on by whereabouts. SO I'll be catching up on all of the fun and Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-51021499465455849002010-09-24T18:30:00.000+09:002010-09-24T18:30:58.651+09:005 in 5I swear I've had 5 posts saved as drafts, but I've been feeling uninspired therefore they have remained incomplete.
I could blame the insane heat we have had in Japan (I like to blame the heat for everything!) But whatever the reason, my writing has suffered.
We have also had a very busy few months. Sponsoring a new family, starting the new school year, doubling up on my own Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-91428048619770657862010-09-08T13:20:00.000+09:002010-09-08T13:20:11.085+09:00Video Blog!Hello Everyone!
Justin and I have REALLY big news! It has been difficult trying to keep the secret from a few family and friends, but now that EVERYONE (and their mother) knows, I felt it was time to broadcast it!
What better way to do that, then by putting my new MacBook to good use and make my very first vlog!
It took me about 100 takes and I feel apprehensive about Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-57747760459997823022010-08-23T10:03:00.000+09:002010-08-23T10:03:34.204+09:00It's been too long.I wish I could say that I took a hiatus from writing and blogging so that I could relax and enjoy the rest of my summer vacation. But.that.would.be.a.lie.
I wish I could say that I've been on some fabulous secluded beach- miles away from the nearest internet connection. But that would also be a lie.
The truth is, I've been here, in Japan. Mostly in the air conditioning, trying to escape the Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-8251114814972265442010-08-11T11:11:00.000+09:002010-08-11T11:11:46.874+09:00Recovered.Two years ago I bought a storage ottoman.
1. It was cheap.
2. I needed extra storage.
I didn't care for the 'nautical' look and for a while I just stapled some 100 yen store felt to it and shoved my files in it.
But, after parusing (which I originally spelled as par-oo-sing) the do-it-yourself blogs out there, I thought about recovering it. So, I read the tutorials, bought the supplies, and Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-59951563584006440722010-08-10T16:51:00.000+09:002010-08-10T16:51:02.378+09:00Spotaneity.In this world that encourages routine, organization, order, and planned events it is easy to overlook the gift of spontaneity. Sometimes it's a ride in the car without a destination. Other times its a spur of the moment decision to try something new.
It's easy to forget that feeling when you are going through the motions of everyday life.
I'll be the first to admit that I am not a Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-49650207830129082.post-19378323883970602602010-08-06T18:21:00.000+09:002010-08-06T18:21:52.197+09:00Triptychs.I am very happy to say that Justin is feeling MUCH better.
His nose surgery was a week ago today and he is already feeling a difference in his breathing.
He had a septoplasty procedure to straighten out the septum that has been deviated since he was a child.
So for the last 7 days he has been recovering.

I drool over the jaw-dropping transformations...
I submitted 2 before and after shots of my blah military apartment.
The transformations I submitted cost me little to no money and were done with things that I made or had sitting in storage containers...
It's amazing what you can do with what you already have!

Hot & Humid. Today was windy and fabulous, which gives it the illusion of being cooler even when it isn't.
My world seems a little busier these days.. Justin has nose surgery on Friday. It is nothing serious, but long overdue and well deserved. It has really made posting quite difficult, because there isn't much else to talk about.
Forgive me, I'm really trying to keep you interested, I just wish I could go into details about the things that have consumed my life lately.

[This has been a work in progress since my brothers left Japan. We had such a great time with them and really miss having them here with us! When I started this challenge, I picked some really great things to remix. But, as soon as summer started (when the rainy season ended) the heat has really messed with my ability to wear 1/2 of my items.
But, I'm no quitter. It is just going to take longer for me to put these things together. Considering Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17516254703112063102noreply@blogger.com1
