I'm not a movie-buff. I can't recite lines from the best films & I can't remember actor's names. I don't know the best directors & I'm unsure of what qualifies a movie as THE picture of the year. I'm confused about the process of screen writing & I don't understand the inner workings of character development.
BUT:
I've decided to take on the Academy Award Nominations - to see if I understand WHY they were chosen...
It's sad but I haven't seen most of the movies on the list...
-The Blind Side
-District 9
-An Education
-The Hurt Locker
-Inglorious Bastards
-Precious
-A Serious Man
-UP
-Julie & Julia
-Up In The Air
-Crazy Heart
-Invictus
-The Lovely Bones
-Nine
I'm going to be putting up a list on the blog - to keep track of the movies as I watch them. I'm sure many of you have seen them (because you don't live under a rock- like I do..), but I think it will be fun to write my own personal review for ya'll.
It's going to be Movie Critic Fridays - My NEW weekly post. So, make sure you come back to leave some good comments about whether you saw the movie, loved it (or hated it), or want to see it. So if you are like me and are not big on these movies - No worries, take this journey with me (I would love some company!). Tomorrow we are starting with (drum-roll please......) Julie & Julia.
I have seen Up (and own it because it is that good!) and Julie & Julia, too. My husband keeps me pretty up to date with action movies, but we didn't see any of those in theaters. We have, however rented District 9 (I hate aliens and zombies, but hubs rented this anyway... when I finally gave up and watched it, it was actually pretty decent.. for an alien movie) and The Hurt Locker. I loved The Hurt Locker... but I'm a sucker for all war movies. Scott also rented Inglorious Basterds, but I just didn't watch it. He did and I think he enjoyed it. Can't wait to hear your reviews. Several of those movies are on my "want to rent" list!
ReplyDeleteI'm so behind on the movies too, and I'm sad to say I haven't even heard of some of the movies on your list. I did see Julie and Julia (which was part of my inspiration for starting a blog). It's really cute! Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteYeah, usually what winds up being nominated are movies I've never seen. I'm glad they went with 10 this year instead of the usual 4 or 5. "Up" was by far my favorite.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, Apparently I have been under a rock as well... I've only seen 4 of them. And none of them were in a theater! :)
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness...I have seen NONE!!! My rock's bigger than your rock! LOL!!!
